Character Hall of Fame
Kurt Warner is a quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals. Although he struggled for quite some time to build his career he never gave up, despite the adversity he faced. Among his many professional accomplishments, Warner led the 2008 Arizona Cardinals to the Super Bowl and owns the three biggest single-game passing yardage totals in Super Bowl history.
In 1997, Warner married Brenda Carney Meoni and adopted her two children Zachary and Jesse. While dating Brenda he did not let the fact that she was a single mother with two children, one seriously disabled and the other a baby, stop him. They now have added five more children to their happy family.
Besides having a professional career and busy family life, Warner is very involved in his community. Kurt and Brenda began their own charity in 2001 called Kurt Warner’s First Things First, founded to help those less fortunate in the community. They help numerous causes such as children’s hospitals, people with developmental disabilities and assisting single parents.
Kurt Warner doesn’t want his legacy to be marked by his professional achievements, but rather he would like to be remembered for his service to others. In 2008, he received the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award (which is given by the NFL, honoring a player’s volunteer and charity work, as well as his excellence on the field). While he did want to win the Super Bowl, that award meant a lot more to him.
Kurt Warner is truly a man of good character, especially for his attitude, integrity, perseverance, optimism and experience.
